2. BLACKPOOL PLEASURE BEACH - Family Amusement Park: Blackpool, Lancashire

A family trip to Blackpool has become somewhat of a rite of passage for us British folk, would you agree? Well, you can't miss out on Blackpool Pleasure Beach which has been awarded Traveller's Choice best of the best amusement and water park, no 8 in the world and no 4 in Europe! Impressive stuff.

If you love white knuckle rides then you're in for a treat as Blackpool Pleasure Beach is home to one of the most famous rollercoasters in the world "The Big One" as well as another 11 high octane adrenaline pumping rides.

And for the little ones, well they certainly haven't been forgotten as Blackpool Pleasure Beach has the UK's only Nickelodeon Land where the kids are surrounded by their favourite characters including SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick, Squidward and characters from PAW Patrol.

3. DRAYTON MANOR RESORT - Family Theme Park & Zoo: Tamworth, Staffordshire

Set in Tamworth in the West Midlands, Drayton Manor is a fabulous day out for the family - especially for smaller children, as it's home to Thomas Land - whoop! Inspired by family favourite Thomas The Tank Engine, Thomas Land is wildly exciting for little ones and you're all guaranteed to have the best day ever.

New for 2023 at Thomas Land the kids can ride on Thomas & Percy's Submarine Splash, a fun filled log flume designed for little ones. Don't worry if you're looking for something a little more white knuckle as Drayton Manor is filled with blood pumping rides including Europe’s first Intamin stand-up roller coaster, Shockwave.

And did you know that there is also a 15 acre open plan zoo on-site? With over 500 species of animals and birds, you could spend an entire day just in the zoo.

4. GULLIVER'S THEME PARK RESORTS - South Yorkshire, Warrington, Milton Keynes, Matlock Bath

With 5 different parks to choose from Gulliver's theme parks are seriously magical, with whimsical themes throughout their attractions. An annual pass gets you access to all 5 locations too. 

The Derbyshire theme park is set in Matlock Bath, with lots of other things to do locally as well as being a 15 minute walk from Matlock Bath Train station so you could make a weekend of it.  We love the Jurrasic Jeeps ride!

The new Gears area at the Cheshire (Warrington) theme park is an exciting addition for kids who love racing cars too and we couldn't not mention the dinosaur and farm park at Milton Keynes where you can get up close to all your favourite dinosaurs from T-Rex to Giganotosaurus.

5. EDINBURGH ZOO - Edinburgh, Scotland

Edinburgh Zoo is by far one of our favourite places to visit in the whole of the UK.

Each day you'll find lots of interesting talks with the keepers so you can learn more about your favourite animals. Take a visit to 'Penguins Rock' home to Gentoo, King and Northern Rockhopper penguins (you could spend all day just with the penguins, they are fascinating).

Take a peek inside the Meerkat enclosure and be sure to visit Qabid, the greater one horned rhinoceros - you'll be amazed at how close you can get.

Edinburgh Zoo gardens is also worth an exploration for those of you who love both fauna AND flora. So peaceful and tranquil, a beautiful setting for a picnic. For creepy crawly lovers the 'Wee Beasties' indoor exhibition is a must see.

6. CREALY THEME PARK - the biggest family theme park in Devon

Crealy Theme Park & Resort is at the top of our school holiday wishlist! Boasting over 60 rides and attractions, with spectacular entertainment, live shows PLUS animals, it's no wonder that this is an award-winning family theme park. 

One of the best things about Crealy Theme Park is that as well as plenty to do outdoors, there is also lots of indoor fun to be had making it perfect for our unpredictable British summers. 

For little ones, Sooty Land is based in the nautical themed seaside pier. Complete with carnival games, a magic mirror maze and a Sooty puppet show.

And for big kids, then the fast electric carts are a must do!

7. FLAMINGO LAND - theme park & zoo: Kirby Misperton, North Yorkshire

Set in 375 acres of stunning North Yorkshire countryside, Flamingo Land Resort is the place to make cherished family memories to last forever.

What can you do there? Well, where do we even start - Flamingo Land really ticks so many boxes. There's the Peter Rabbit Adventure for smaller kids, with a bunny treetop trail and lots more to entertain them. There's also the main theme park, filled to the brim with exhilarating rollercoasters including Velocity, the UK's only motorbike launch rollercoaster which propels you up to 60mph in less than 3 seconds.

And if the theme park wasn't enough, there is also a conservation-oriented zoo for families who love to see the exotic animals including Red Panda, Lions, Hippos and the infamous pink flamingos. We particularly love the holiday accommodation options too, giving you the option to stay and make it a family mini break.

8. WEST MIDLAND SAFARI & LEISURE PARK - Bewdley, Worcestershire

West Midland Safari Park is an attraction we would definitely recommend! 

The kids will absolutely love the drive-through safari, getting to see animals up close in their own habitat. If that wasn't enough, then there's the Land of the Living Dinosaurs attraction - the largest animatronic dinosaur attraction. Travel through time and learn all about the history of dinosaurs. You even get to do a dino dig at the end.

There really hasn't been a better time to visit West Midland Safari Park as Friday 7th July 2023 saw the opening of Lion Ridge, the very first time visitors have been able to see lions on foot in the park. A must visit!

9. TWYCROSS ZOO

We previously mentioned Drayton Manor - well, Twycross Zoo isn't very far away from the theme park! You could make a weekend of it and visit both, using the money saved from Kids Pass to pay for a hotel nearby (there are plenty).

Twycross Zoo has one of the best indoor softplay centres we've ever encountered - you don't even have to purchase zoo tickets to use it as tickets can be bought separately.

The Gruffalo Discovery Land is well worth a visit with little ones and if you're lucky to enough to arrive on a sunny day then make sure you have your swimsuits and towels packed so that you can take advantage of the Wet 'n' Wild Play Park.

10. SOUTH LAKES SAFARI ZOO - Lake District, Cumbria

Home to over 1000 of the rarest endangered species, South Lakes Safari Zoo offers visitors the chance to get as close as possible.

With Sumatran tigers, snow leopards, an adorable cotton top tamarin troupe, and so many more beautiful creatures to visit a trip to South Lakes Safari Zoo is a truly memorable experience.

11. KIDZANIA

Located in London, KidZania is a 75,000sqft mini-city set inside Westfield London Shepherd's Bush.

Created for kids age 4 - 14 it is basically a city built to the scale of a child, with tonnes of educational roleplay and immersive activities to enjoy. It's filled with ultra realistic activtities designed to mirror real life careers! They can take a turn at being an airline Pilot, Fire Fighter, Radio Presenter, Surgeon and more! Where else can the kids do that?

12. FUZZY EDS - Soft Play Centres (various locations)

With 27 locations (find yours here), there may be a Fuzzy Eds very close to you. Fuzzy Eds softplay centres are extremely popular for smaller children and depending on your location, often include unlimited Robinsons Squash and biscuits.
