Are you looking for places to go "pumpkin picking near me?" One of the best things to do to get you in the autumnal mood is to pick your very own pumpkins.
Carving pumpkins has long been a halloween tradition - although if you're as old as some of us here in Bump HQ you'll remember trying hopelessly to dig the tough flesh out of a turnip.
Thankfully these days pumpkins are far more accessible. You can pick up a Morrisons pumpkin or an Asda pumpkin with your weekly shop for just a couple of quid. But if you're looking to make more of an event of it then heading off to your local pumpkin farm and picking your own would be a fantastic idea. Not only will you have the satisfaction of knowing that you picked your own, but it also gives you a lovely day out with the kids.

Pumpkin Picking in the South East
Crockford Bridge Farm, Surrey

Every October the pumpkin festival opens at Crockford's corner. An American style pumpkin patch there are thousands of different sized pumpkins and squashes grown here on the farm and displayed for sale on tables and hay bales. Please note that pumpkin picking directly from the fields is not always necessary due to weather conditions.
Foxes Farm Produce Essex

The pumpkin patch at Foxes Farm opens 30th September. Operating since 2015, Foxes Farm is the original, pumpkin picking patch in Essex. There are two locations to choose from: Basildon (Watch House Farm, Wash Road, SS15 4ER. Bus route 9 and 100), and Colchester (Green Lane, Aldham, CO6 3PR. Bus Route 88). Ticket booking opens soon so keep an eye on their website.

Thurloxton Farm

Located between Taunton & Bridgewater, this family run farm offers up a carving barn to stay dry in and they even use your pulp to and put it back onto the fields for fertilization. Fun & games are also included in a trip to Thurloxton including a spooky walk. Great day out for the full family.

Last year, East Grange Farm grew over 70,000 pumpkins! They've not released their tickets yet but their enormous farm offers a plethora of wonderful Halloween activities each year, with reviews of their pumpkin picking events lauding East Grange Farm as a prime pumpkin patch - definitely keep an eye out for their event announcement for Halloween 2023.
