Our Favourite Side-Sleeper Cribs

If you’re expecting a new baby, and would like convenience when it comes to breastfeeding, or even just easier access to your baby when in bed, a side-sleeper crib is a must-have!

Also referred to as a co-sleeper crib, these are a fairly recent addition to the market for useful gadgets for parents, and already they’re an absolute hit for so many reasons! We’ll be taking a look at why they’re so popular, and the favourite models amongst our lovely parenting community.

The Benefits of a Side-sleeper

Historically, parents have been advised not to bed-share – recently The Lullaby Trust issued some safe bed-sharing guidelines to help mitigate any risks but for many parents, bed-sharing isn’t something they’d consider, so a side-sleeper is a great purchase to give parents peace of mind at bedtime whilst still enjoying the same benefits of co-sleeping such as…

  • Close proximity to baby due to the side of the crib having the option to drop – it’s harder to access baby and engage with baby when in bed as easily when they’re in a moses basket or crib.
  • Caesarean section mums can get their baby out and engage with their baby much more easily, instead of needing to move at awkward angles to pick their baby up out of a moses basket or crib.
  • Breastfeeding is easier with a side-sleeper than a moses basket – pop a boob into the side-sleeper, let baby latch, sorted!
  • Parents won’t worry about baby being in their bed if this is something that causes them anxiety, as these side-sleepers are designed so that a baby can’t roll into your bed (but once they’re crawling, this may be a different story).

Our Favourite Sidesleeper Cribs

We asked the mummies and daddies over in our online parenting communities to vote for their favourite side-sleeper cribs and we were really pleased with the response! These four models really jumped out at us as the most raved out, so here they are!

Chicco Next2Me

The Chicco Next2Me was the most popular side-sleeping crib amongst the parents in our group! One of our mummies told us why she loved using hers…

“After an emergency caesarean, getting my baby out of a moses basket would have been seriously uncomfortable. The Chicco Next2Me made life much easier, especially when breastfeeding at night. It’s really spacious so your baby can be in there for quite a while, and it’s really sturdy too. The option to tilt it slightly helped with reflux.’

SnüzPod 3 Bedside Crib

The SnüzPod 3 was another very popular choice amongst the parents over in our community. We were told…

“For us, the Snüzpod was the best option as it takes up less space than the Chicco. The bassinet can also be disconnected and moved around the house which is super convenient! Also, it can be rocked to soothe baby which we loved.”

Tutti Bambini

The Tutti Bambini is loved by many of the parents we chatted to, and we can see why, as it really looks fantastic! One of our favourite comments about the Tutti Bambini was…

“We went for the Tutti for a few reasons… We liked how it looked compared to the other options, and also found that the mattress it comes with is much nicer than the other models we checked out when shopping.”

Babylo Cozi Sleeper

Finally, we have the Babylo Cozi Sleeper. This can also be tilted for reflux babies!

“I bought the Babylo, I found that it was cheaper than the Chicco and the same thing, my daughter used to sleep in it before she got too big for it.”
