If you have a serious medical condition, this phone feature could save your life.

Most phones have a feature that allows you to set up a ‘medical ID’ that anyone can access, even without a password to your device!

People who have a serious medical condition really should consider setting this up, particularly if you are pregnant, allergic to specific medications, need an epi pen administering, or need positioning in a specific way if you become unwell/collapse with no one you know around you. This feature means that whoever finds you, or the emergency services, can access this information. You can also add an emergency contact who can be called out to help you in case of a medical emergency.

Of course, it is still more reliable to wear a medical ID bracelet as this feature is still not as well known, but the more people who are aware the better! If you are a paramedic or know one, please share this.

There isn’t an automatic way to do this on Android phones yet, so you’ll need to download an app. The ICE app is very popular with Android users, and you can see how it works in this video.
