Primark Has Gone ONLINE!!

In breaking news... Primark has launched their new online shopping platform!

Who doesn't love a Primark binge?! Sometimes though, you could be forgiven for avoiding it, especially with an errant toddler in tow - spending hours chasing your kids through the endless aisles instead of actually clothes shopping can be stressful! Luckily for us, after years of shoppers begging Primark to go online, they've finally answered our prayers.

Initially, there will be a click-and-collect trial in 25 stores across north-west England, restricted to children's products to begin with. After losing more than £1 billion during pandemic-driven store closures, Primark have decided to open this online platform but it won't be offering deliveries - although we hope they change their mind this front in future.

The decision is also motivated by the cost of living crisis, with the retailer clearly seeing the demand for cheaper products rising, and wanting to improve our access to them; we think that this is a great idea. It'll mean that we can purchase items on the Primark website, if we live near a participating store now or in future, and quickly nip in to collect our purchase rather than spending hours digging through piles of clothing fruitlessly looking for the right size, leading to money being spent elsewhere.

Primark Chief Executive Paul Marchant has told the BBC...

"It's a milestone for us and a really important moment. We're massive fans of bricks and mortar. We believe in stores and we believe in the High Street. We think click-and-collect is the right proposition. I think customers are looking for better value all the time. I think at Primark, we offer them outstanding value. And I think we are attracting new customers as a consequence of that."

Our verdict...

As savvy shoppers ourselves, we're quite partial to a good old browse at Primark. However, there comes a time where physically, it's the last thing we want to be doing with children in tow. The new click-and-collect will give parents more time and freedom, as well as making it easier for us to access more affordable clothing for our kids. All in all, a smart move by Primark!
