New Mums Warned About Dangers Of MLM Schemes

We all have that one acquaintance, the facebook friend that you haven’t seen since school, but who constantly tries to rope you into their ‘amazing opportunity’.

At first glance, the controversial schemes do seem appealing… those that ‘got in at the ground floor’ are far from shy about sharing photos of their lavish lifestyles, exotic holidays and expensive cars – all apparently achieved by working from home.  I mean, you’re a new mum, at home with your baby…. why not earn a few quid while the little one naps?

The trouble is, it’s a lie. You’re at the bottom of the pile. You won’t ever earn as much as the lucky few that joined these programmes in their infancy, because all you do is earn more money for them. In order for you to make any money for yourself, you have to recruit hundreds of people to do the same for you.

The waste of time isn’t the only danger here either… quite often you have to buy your way in – with some on Mumsnet reporting that they’ve lost thousands.

Mumsnet told the BBC that its users are so worried about multi-level marketing that in the past couple of years there were between 20,000 and 30,000 posts about it on the site, resulting in a ban on MLM ads.
