Our Babymoon Trip!

So the time came for us to finally take our babymoon!

It was also to celebrate Sam’s 21st and our 7 year anniversary! It was our first night away with a baby and I was quite nervous but determined to make it happen as I’ve done plenty of day trips now so why not conquer the night away! I’m not ready to leave Leo fully overnight and through to the next day so it was no question us taking Leo, I can’t leave him and be so far away just yet.

We stayed at a log cabin in Cheshire called Lady Heyes Park near a small town called Frodsham. It is a site which had cabins/glamping, you can pitch your tent or caravans there too. The staff were really nice and welcoming and the site was lovely and well looked after. It was about a 40 minute drive so it wasn’t too far to think much about feeding stops or toilet stops. Leo is very used to the car and always sends to him sleep so I wasn’t worried about that (cars are amazing things right?!).
The Cabin we stayed in had a TV, log burner, double beds, sofas and kettle and fridge and let’s not forget the hot tub! It was basic but we were only staying for a night so we didn’t mind. One thing I didn’t expect was how much stuff we needed to take! It was VERY different to the spontaneous trips we used to take where all you think about is yourselves and you get up and go.
A quick romantic night where you would only need one bag turned into 3 bags, a holdall, a travel cot and lots of bottles (sterilised) and tins of milk, Leo’s breakfast and plenty of spare clothes, his play mat, toys, loads and loads of nappies. It all seemed a bit much for one night and I was so worried I had forgot something important and what we would do if we had! The town was extremely small and basic so major supplies were quite a drive away, which is scary with a baby.
I was also nervous about how Leo would behave, I was worried he wouldn’t like the environment and it would make him upset. I was constantly worrying about his temperature and trying to keep the cabin warm but not too warm and I worried he wouldn’t sleep due to being stressed about not being at home past his bed time because it makes him grumpy now he’s a little older. So my mind was super busy and I did feel anxious because you just never know what can happen with babies.
But the little babe surprised us both! He was completely himself, he had his normal nap in his travel cot, fed normally and went straight to sleep at bed time! He was super happy and playful, it was such a joy spending that time with him. It was so nice for us to be just 3 and all bond together. It was lovely to just be cosy and cuddled up in the cabin. Even though we were only 40 minutes away it felt like we was so much farther away. It was nice to get away from home and routine for a night and to wing it and chill out. It was very green and in the open fresh air which is what I love.
I would definitely recommend this place to any couples or families who want to get away for a night or enjoy camping and the outdoors! (which is my element). Everything there is super clean and very well looked after, nothing about the place disappointed us at all.

We wanted to make a day of it the next day as check out was 10am, so we got some breakfast and took us all to Blue Planet Aquarium (Sam’s idea because of his marine fish hobby) We thought it would be good for Leo with the all the colours as he loves the fishies at home! He only falls asleep when we get to the colourful marine bit, typical ha ha! We enjoyed it though because we are still big kids… we then took off home for some late dinner and to unpack all our bags ready to sort Leo for bed.

So yeah, there was our little trip away for the first time with baba! One thing I will say is never let all the packing and taking millions of things put you off just for a night or two because it so so worth it! Making memories with your family even when your little ones are babies is so special and you will remember it always.
