An Open Letter To Tired Mums

Dear all you tired Mums,

I see you.

How exhausted and drained you look yet how eager you are to do this thing called motherhood.

I understand because this is me too.

You give every second of every day and don’t ever make time for yourself.

You lay awake at night, feeling anxious with your heart beating at a hundred miles per hour thinking about all the things you didn’t do.

You burst into tears after shouting at your children because you feel guilty and unworthy.

You try your best to go for outings each day so you’re not stuck at home whilst the children trash your living room out of boredom despite all the toys you’ve bought them over the years.

You sit looking through social media with tears rolling down your face when you see your Facebook friends having playdates with all their children, wishing that was you because you’re always on your own.

There will be days when you just want to throw in the towel, when you feel that you can’t take it anymore. Sometimes you feel like you just don’t want to be a Mum anymore.

Please don’t be hard on yourself, even if you feel like you have nothing left to give, you will get up the next morning and you will do it all again. You love your children and wouldn’t change it for the world. You might not think it but you’re the best Mum ever. You always put your children first.

One day you’ll wake up and they’ll all be grown up and you’ll wish you could turn back time. You’ll want each moment back that you took for granted and you’ll feel empty inside.

There will come a time when you’ll give anything for a kiss and a cuddle.

That’s the crazy thing about motherhood. It can be tiring, exhausting but so rewarding.

Keep going, no matter how far from perfect you are, you’re better than you think. You love your children unconditionally, no matter how much they tear you down.

No one is perfect, all we can do is try.
