Chests of drawers, cabinets, shelving units, anything tall and climbable really, should be tethered to the wall it is up against. It only takes once for the worst to happen, which doesn’t bear thinking about really… but as parents, we need to face up to these risks.

It’s so easy for even a small child to overbalance a heavy piece of unanchored furniture by climbing on drawers or dragging doors, and many children have actually been killed due to this.
