Let Us Kiss Our Kids On The Lips Without Judgement!

Warning: rant with profane language used.

Please note that younger babies shouldn’t be kissed on the lips due to their immature immune system, and anyone carrying or knowlingly exposed to the herpes simplex virus should avoid kissing kids on the lips entirely.

Kissing children on the lips has been commonplace for god knows how long; it’s a habit that crosses centuries, cultures, continents, generations… It is a way of expressing love that most parents can relate to.

It isn’t snogging (french kissing, ooh la la!), it isn’t inherently sexual and shouldn’t be perceived to be so when it is a loving parent and happy child exchanging a loving peck…

So why the feckity feck does society go into ‘rabid wolfpack mode’ every time we see a celebrity in the press, unwittingly snapped by the paparazzi giving their cherished children a kiss on the lips?

WHHHHYYYYYY?

‘Ewwww, so inappropriate!’

‘PAEDOOOOOOOO!’

‘Wrong!’

‘Weird!’

‘It’s confusing and not healthy!’

And god fucking help you if you’re the opposite sex to your kissy, loving child! You’re painted as someone with paedophilic tendencies who should have their kids removed, based on genuine comments that I have read on social media in recent years! I find the implication disgusting to be honest!

Victoria & Harper Beckham

Hilary Duff & her son Luca

Olivia Wilde kissing her son Otis – apparently she is kissing him like her ‘husband’… Are people insane?!

Olivia Wilde, Victoria Beckham and her hubby David Beckham, Hilary Duff… just 4 examples I can name off the top of my head who have been targeted by the torch and pitchfork mob!

I do wonder, in a day and age where on a daily basis there seems to be heartbreaking stories in the news about abused and murdered children, why does all the negative attention seem to be reserved for parents who clearly LOVE, cherish and nurture their offspring? There is something convoluted and disturbing about this to me.

Lets make something clear…

A PECK ON THE LIPS IS NOT A SEXUAL ACT.

IT IS NOT THE SAME AS AND CANNOT BE COMPARED TO SNOGGING/FRENCH KISSING/GETTING OFF/USING TONGUES/ROMANTIC KISSING etc etc etc.

PARENTS SHOWING LOVE AND AFFECTION SHOULD NOT BE SUBJECTED TO HATE!

If you see it in a sexualised context, then I hate to break it to you but YOU’RE the one with the issue.

Got a problem with me kissing my son on the lips…?

JOG ON! Stop shaming parents for loving their kids and mind your own damned business.

Aaaaaaand breathe… *sigh*

As you can tell, this is something that I am a tad passionate about.

However, I LOVE to hear the perspectives of our followers… tell us in the comments (either on the website or business page posting) what YOU think!

Love from Katie. Xx
