Drinking Tea, Eating Cake And Having A Chat!

Wow, wow, wow!

What a week! On Tuesday we held the first of our Cuppa, Cake & Chat events in Newcastle and what a great event it was!

I’ve got to thank the businesses who gave up their time to support us – the amazing ARTventurers came along to entertain your little ones, and they did such a fantastic job. We love the footprint and handprint keepsakes they were creating, we can totally see a few Grandmas getting those on Mother’s Day!

The lovely Dave from St John’s Ambulance popped in and offered some demonstrations about how to deal with a choking baby, something we all hope never happens but we want to know how to deal with it, if it does.

Local mum, and organiser of Newcastle Slingmeet, Aggie brought along some slings and real nappies and chatted with everyone about how to correctly fit a sling.

And I’ve got to talk about the cake! These fabulous Bump, Baby & You cupcakes were made by The Anticipation based in Durham. With fresh raspberry buttercream, they tasted even better than they looked! The few that remained at the end of the event were quickly devoured by the team.

The event was captured by Rachel Alcock Photography. I haven’t seen all the photos yet, but here are just a few of Rachel’s favourites from the event. I have loved seeing the pictures you’ve been tweeting and posting in the Facebook group of you and your little ones, which brings me on nicely to you guys.

We all know how difficult it can be just leaving the house before lunchtime with a new baby, but especially visiting an event on your own, in a location you might not have visited before, but I was blown away by how many of you made the effort and came. Sleepless nights, or not, you all looked amazing, and smiled and chatted with each other like a big group of old friends!

It was wonderful meeting you and getting to know you and your little ones a little better (we definitely have a few broody team members now!) and introducing you to each other. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and made a few friends you can organise your own meet ups with in future.

A few final messages of thanks to the businesses who generously gave their goods to make the goody bags the best we’ve ever seen, including Nuby, Mama Mio , Pudding & Chops, and Usborne Book supplier Enchanted Books.

I really hope the next few events live up to this first event, because the bar is set high.

If you haven’t got your tickets yet for Chester or Leeds get them booked quick because we’re certain once word gets out about the cakes and goody bags they will become the golden tickets.

You can book your free ticket to the Leeds event here.

You can book your free ticket to the Chester event here.

Thank you again to all involved and especially to you amazing mums for making it possible.

Laura and the Bump, Baby & You team xx
