Bath Toys - Mould Build Up Warning

If your little one loves playing with bath toys, this is an important read!

Certain bath toys (the ones that can squirt water) can retain water and develop mould inside surprisingly rapidly!

The chances of your little one becoming sick from the mould that can build up in bath toys is unlikely according to paediatricians; however, if your little one has immune sensitivities they run the risk of developing asthma or becoming poorly.

However likely health problems may be, it’s still undesirable and best avoided where possible!

To check for mould, fill the toy with water and squirt – if any filth comes out, there’s mould present!

Watch this video if you dare… beware, as it’s pretty grim!

How can I avoid my child’s bath toys becoming mouldy inside?

  • Seal the holes! A hot glue gun is fab for this purpose.
  • Soak the toys in a bleach bath overnight after use.
  • Invest in a storage rack and place the toys on this to drain after use.
