We all know that becoming a parent is life changing, and has such a deep impact on us integrally! Here are the 5 ways in which no one tells us how we change…
Empathy
Once upon a time, you could watch the news as stoic as anything. Nowadays, you become tearful with joy/anger/love/distress at any news story that is even slightly emotive… and don’t even get me started on Disney Films! You’ll find yourself relating to everyone and everthing…
Tolerance
Noise. Mess. Smell. Your tolerance levels hit DIZZYING heights that surprise even you!
Capacity for love
You thought you could never love anyone as much as you love your soulmate (if you’re lucky enough to have found them), right? Pah. Think again. You WILL love your baby as much, in a different way, and your love for your own little family will be on an entire new level.
Patience
‘MUMMY. MUMMY. MAMA. MAMA. MA. MA. MOM. MOM. MOMMY. MOMMY. Look at my poop.’
You’ll probably feel irked, stressed, annoyed and a little disgusted at some of the monologues you receive from your kids, but your inner reserves of patience will have been bolstered.
Personality
Now I’m not saying you’ll become an entirely unrecognisable new person… but parts of you that make up your overall personality WILL alter. You’ll develop new traits, awaken those that were dormant (yay for hormones), and become an overall enhanced person. It’s like Pokemon… you’ll evolve to the next level of you-ness!
‘POKEMOMS, GOTTA CATCH THEM AAAAAALL!’
Tell us in the comments; how did YOU change when you became a mummy?
Love from Katie. Xx
